During Lieutenant Colonel Al Amatuzio's 25 years as an award-winning jet fighter pilot, he gained a solid appreciation for the extraordinary lubricants that protected the engines of the jets he flew. He knew that only these lubricants, synthetic lubricants, could stand up to the demanding operating conditions of jet engines and the severe temperature extremes they encounter.
He knew also that the same outstanding performance benefits synthetic lubricants provide for jet engines would prove invaluable to car, truck and other internal combustion engines.
In the mid-1960s, Al Amatuzio began an intense period of research and development. He assembled the industry's most knowledgeable chemists and directed the formulation of the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet American Petroleum Institute service requirements.
The introduction of AMSOIL synthetic motor oil in 1972 set all-new standards for motor oil quality. AMSOIL synthetic motor oil outperformed conventional petroleum motor oils on all counts. It was clear from the start that this innovative product would play a major role in engine performance and engine life.
Today, virtually every other motor oil manufacturer has recognized the superiority of synthetic lubricants and has followed the AMSOIL lead with introductions of synthetic motor oils of their own. They spend millions of dollars advertising their "new" and "revolutionary" products. No one, however, can match AMSOIL experience and technological know-how. And no one delivers products like AMSOIL. Accept no substitutes -- AMSOIL is "The First in Synthetics."®
Warranties and AMSOIL
Customers Worried Over Warranties?
AMSOIL provides new items to address warranty concerns.
AMSOIL is a recognized leader in the lubrication industry. The company's introduction of the world's first API rated synthetic motor oil brought many lasting and irreversible changes for the oil industry, automotive manufactures and consumers alike. Extended drain intervals, synthetic lubricants for all applications and, above all else, unparalleled quality have defined the brand. Sitll, after more than 35 years, millions of miles, irrefutable scientific proof and countless customers who are not only satisified, but oftentimes amazed, some people are still concerned that using AMSOIL lubricants will void their vehicle's warranty.
A Commitment to Excellence
As a jet fighter squadron commander Lieutenant Colonel Albert J. Amatuzio had ample opportunity to witness synthetic lubricants in action. These oils are used exclusively in jet engines because of three extraordinary performance characteristics: an ability to reduce friction and wear on engine components, an ability to function dependably at severe temperature extremes and an ability to withstand rigorous and lengthy engin operation without chemical breakdown.
Recognizing that these same benefits would prove invaluable in combustion engines, Amatuzio began conducting serious research in 1963. By 1966 he had formulated a synthetic motor oil and put it to use in vehicles in northern Minnesota. Throughtout the late '60s Amatuzio continued his research and development and sold commercially available synthetic oils under a variety of names. In 1970 he incorporated his own name into a commercially sold product called AMMOIL. In 1971 this product name was changed to AMZOIL and it continued to be sold commercially. The true milestone cam in 1972 when AMZOIL became the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet American Petroleum Institute criteria. The new lubricant performed like no other before it. When the first can appeared on the market in 1972, it signaled the birth of an entire industry. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants have expanded the boundaries of lubrication science and redefined the performance possibilities of modern machinery and engines.
AMSOIL extended drain intervals means fewer oil changes, long term savings and convenience. Even if you drive only 12,000 miles per year, the cost for AMSOIL motor oil is less than you pay for petroleum oil now! And you still get better wear protection, lower engine temperature, improved fuel efficiency and eaiser cold-weather starts. All of these benefits add up to reduced operating costs and longer engine life. Change your oil and filter today and in 12 months change the oil and filter again. That's it! What could be more convenient and good for your vehicle, too?
